This past year has seen more student activism on UD’s campus around important issues than at any time in recent memory. Some of the key issues raised have included sexual harassment, sexual assault, race and equality, diversity, and tensions that exist across the nation between under-served communities and the police.

In December of 2014, for example, University students led a series of peaceful protests against the politics of hate and repression and for the opening of respectful dialogue about the issues that separate us. UD faculty and staff also joined these protests, as an intriguing and insightful discussion began across the campus.

To foster and encourage this very important dialogue, the University began the #VoicesOfUDel social media campaign.

#VoicesOfUDel began as a series of YouTube videos in which University students, staff, and faculty have an open conversation about the value of building a University and a community that includes and values the rich diversity of all its members.

Importantly, the conversation has begun to fan out into Twitter and other social media as the discussion expands with the #VoicesOfUDel hashtag.

We invited Jawanza Keita, Communications Director for the University Provost’s Office, to join us for a live Campus Voices episode on Feb. 12, 2015. It was a fantastic #VoicesOfUDel conversation. If you missed it live on the air, you should listen to the archived copy.
