The University of Delaware’s mascot is named the Blue Hen:
Blue hens developed a reputation during the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783) for being fearless in battle (i.e., cock fights).
Since the ELI has many students who celebrate the Lunar New Year, and since the Year of the Rooster reminds us of our brave blue hens, we have decided to celebrate, too!
The ELI Admissions Office would like to send a small “blue hen” themed gift to new students in honor of the Year of the Rooster.
How to receive the gift
To get the gift, students must have received a conditional offer of admission to the University of Delaware and they must confirm their plan to attend. This means the student must:
- Submit the Study Confirmation Form and pay the required $35 express mail fee;
- Submit all supporting documents (valid bank statement, sponsorship letter, and passport); and
- Plan to begin his/her studies at the ELI on August 24, 2017 (as indicated on the Study Confirmation Form).
All of these requirements must be completed between February 1 and February 15, 2017.
If the student meets all of these requirements, the Blue Hen Year of the Rooster gift will be included in the Welcome Package with the student’s I-20 Form!
