Dr. Laura Zimmermann

IES Postdoctoral Research Fellow

I am an IES Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Child’s Play, Learning, and Development Lab working with Dr. Roberta Golinkoff and Dr. Kathy Hirsh-Pasek. My main project is examining strategies to teach spatial skills to 3 year-olds in concrete and touchscreen puzzle formats as well as the relationship between spatial skills and later math readiness.

I received a PhD in Psychology at Georgetown University with a concentration in Human Development and Public Policy. As a graduate researcher in the Georgetown Early Learning Project with Dr. Rachel Barr, I studied how children learn and remember information from different media sources, such as touchscreens. The ultimate goal of my research is to inform parents, educators, and policymakers on best practices.
