Soybean Vein Necrosis Virus Symptoms are Showing Up

Some soybeans are starting to show early symptoms of Soybean Vein Necrosis Virus (SVNV), although incidence has been very low. SVNV is a fairly new pathogen that has made an appearance in Delaware in recent years. Little is known about the virus, although some speculate that it may be spread by thrips. Symptoms start as light green or yellow patches near the leaf veins, which generally follow the veination. In susceptible varieties foliage eventually turns brown and leaves may desiccate and die. Because little is known about this disease there are no management recommendations.
