Congratulations to Leah Fronk to correctly respond that the discoloration seen on the zucchini plant below is a symptom of blossom end rot, most likely due to inconsistent watering which restricted the plant’s ability to transfer calcium to the developing fruit. Blossom end rot is most commonly seen in tomatoes and peppers but can affect cucurbit crops as well.
