Fruit Crop Insect Scouting

David Owens, Extension Entomologist, owensd@udel.edu

We have recently recovered several spotted wing drosophila from traps. Caneberries are at high risk for larval damage. Once a treatment program has begun, it may be necessary to hit plants with harder chemistry first. Blueberries are less attractive than caneberries and direct market to consumer folks may be able to get by withholding an application until fruit damage becomes evident. Caneberry thresholds are 1 fly per trap.
