About
You can participate in our research studies by reviewing the details under Current Projects and following the link to Get in Touch to schedule a screening call. If you are qualified for a study and want to participate, we’ll schedule a meeting over zoom to review the Informed Consent.
Next is a visit to the Nurse Managed Primary Care Center (NMPCC) located on STAR campus. You’ll need to fast 12 hours prior to this appointment. A nurse will take a blood sample (CBC, Metabolic, Lipid panels), perform an ECG, 3 blood pressure measurements, and your height and weight. There is no cost to you and results will be provided to you.
The next step is to schedule the study visit(s), working with you to find a mutually agreeable time, though we do not currently have the ability to offer weekends. Some of our study visits may last a maximum of 4.5 hours. We can begin as early as 7am and as late as 2:30pm, Monday through Friday.
Your Safety
We do everything we can to ensure your safety and comfort during the study visit. The techniques we use are validated by other researchers and have been used on many people without incident. Our protocols are evaluated by the University of Delaware Institutional Review Board to ensure participant safety and minimize risks. We also have trained staff who routinely conduct these procedures.
Your Information is Kept Secure
Information obtained from our studies will be kept strictly confidential. All data will be stored in a locked cabinet or encrypted password-protected computer indefinitely. The data will be stored and archived for potential use in other, future studies. Information obtained in the medical history form is used only by the Nurse Managed Primary Care Center at the University of Delaware, and electronic records are stored in a secure HIPAA-compliant database.
Our Inclusion and Exclusion criteria
Each of our studies has criteria for participating. These criteria help to preserve the scientific rigor by reducing the number of variables in our study. Each study has its unique criteria which are listed on its respective page and will be reviewed during the screening call.
