My Dream Job: Photography

aruba
For my dream job I would love to be a photographer working anywhere I need to be. If I had an office I would prefer it either be at home or close to home so editing photos wouldn’t take me forever to get to the office. I would also be willing to relocate for bigger and better opportunities for example if a singer or band asked me to go on tour with them and be their photographer I would love to do something like that.

I would rather a schedule that varies and can be somewhat spontaneous, but it doesn’t have to be. If I had to put down a max of hours I would be okay working with it would probably be close to 40 hours. With my personality, I would be okay in any environment whether it be professional or playful and laid back. Having freedoms would be ideal as well. Since photography deals with being artistic and being able to communicate with people, those are skills I would want to and have to apply while on the job. I want to be seen as an incredible photographer that could be inspirational to others. I love working with people and would rather not be stuck in an office isolated from everyone.

The industry I am most interested in is the photography industry in general. I have no come across any company that I like more than the others, but I hope to have my own business and be on my own schedule the way I would like it to go. As far as salaries go, I feel that around fifty thousand dollars at least a year would be pretty fantastic to have. Now if I am comfortable with a certain way I am living and it happens to be less that that a year, then that’s okay too. I think it is really important to not be money hungry, but to be just comfortable with the way you are living with the job you have and the money you make while working for your dream job.

  1. I love these photographs you have taken! I like that you are open to the different opportunities a job in photography would provide you with and I think it is great that you realize the value of doing something you love over doing something just for the money.

  2. Val,
You caught some beautiful shots! I feel like there’s so much you can do with photography, from going on tour with a band, like you said, to taking someone’s wedding pictures! After maybe getting some more experience you can open your own company and do whatever you want. Best of luck!

  3. Being able to travel and take photos would be amazing!! A job that consists of not always being in the same place is never boring and always an adventure.

  4. Photography seems like such a fun medium that can also be a wide range of career opportunities (like for postcards, weddings, travel magazines, etc.)
