History of Science is back again for a second summer!
History of Science
1st Summer Session 2024, HIST227-194 & HIST227-195, ASYN, Storm
* History of Science is an overview of the history of science from Ancient Greece to the “Scientific Revolution” to the formation of “Big Science” in the twentieth century. Rather than focusing strictly on scientific theories and how they emerged, we will examine the cultural context of scientific thought. No advanced knowledge of science is necessary.
* This course meets the “History & Cultural Change” breadth requirement and I’ve specifically written this for STEM majors who wish to understand the past of their profession as they move into the future of it. There are scheduled quizzes, but no exams in this class and students will look at the present and future of a self-selected science track by critiquing a movie, reviewing an article, creating an annotated timeline, and envisioning the future of their science.
* There are no required texts!
