Agent Letter: November 2016

Five orange pumpkins sit in a row in front of a distressed, wooden background.

November brings beautiful fall colors and cooler weather. Daylight savings time ends on November 6, so be sure to turn your clocks back! This month also brings Election Day, Veterans Day, The Great American Smoke Out, and Thanksgiving.

Sussex 4-H was very busy in October with the following events:

  • 2 Archery Shoots
  • Science Saturdays – Geocaching and Plant Science Workshop
  • Paper Clover Fundraiser – 4-H members, friends, and families were encouraged to participate
  • Pumpkin Contest/Haunted Trail – 97 4-H’ers decorated pumpkins and over 150 attended the event
  • Fall Retreat – 33 campers and 10 counselors enjoyed games, a campfire, smores, crafts, and more!

November 4-H events include a Holiday Card Party for Heroes on Friday, November 4 at 6:30 pm, Sewing Workshop on Friday, November 4, International Foods and the Talent Show, along with an Exchange Trip Silent Auction will take place on Saturday, November 19 at 6:00 pm.  Delaware 4-H will send a delegation of teens to Atlanta, GA to participate in National Club Congress from November 25-November 29. The Sussex delegates is:  Rebecca Arpie, Cypress Heart & Hands.

On a personal note, I will be out of the office from mid-November through mid-January as we welcome our third child into the family, completing our own “Jackson 5”!  If you need any assistance, please contact Tammy, Lindsay or Tiffany at the 4-H office.

Please be sure to read all the posts in our newsletter/blog and be sure to mark your calendars with all of the exciting 4-H activities!

I hope you enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and loved ones. Take a few moments to think of all your blessings. We have so much to be thankful for!

Yours in 4-H,
