Horticulture Judging Results -2013

84-H Horticulture JudgingWe were pleased to see an enthusiastic group on Wednesday, April 24, 2013  for our Horticulture Judging Contest. Horticulture judging involves annual and perennial flower identification, shrubs, trees and plant diseases and useful tools and materials. Contestants also had to judge among four potted Gerber daisies and rate the order of their health and appeal as a consumer choice. 4-H members also used their critical thinking skills to determine the rating of cucumbers as a market choice. Seniors provided written reasons for the order of their group placement.Special thanks to Jay Hukill and Michele Walfred for providing training materials, and to the Sussex Master Gardeners for providing the rankings for the potted plants and cucumbers. Test material set up- Jill Jackson, Rita Lofland, Lindsay Hughes and Michele Walfred. Contest was moderated by Michele Walfred.
