Dr. Franich receives NSF Grant September 30, 2020

Dr. Franich has recently been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation for her project Speech and Communicative Timing Across Languages and Linguistic Contexts (BCS 2018003)! As a part of this project, she will be hiring a postdoc (starting Fall 2021). More information about the grant can be found here. Summer Scholars and Fellows June 14, 2020

Three of our undergrad RAs have been awarded summer funding this year, Lindsay Hawtof as a Summer Scholar, and Anna Schumeyer and Nicole Taylor as Summer Fellows. Together, they will be working with Fridah Gam-Belek, a Master’s student in African Languages and Linguistics from the University of Yaounde I in Cameroon, to do phonetic analysis of various aspects of Rɨkpa’, Fridah’s native language (a Bantu language). Congratulations, all!

Laura Matista at 2019 Summer Scholars Syposium August 15, 2019

Undergraduate research assistant Laura Matista represented the lab well at this year’s Summer Scholars Symposium on August 15th. Her poster investigated individual variability in the relationship between pitch and vowel quality in the Medʉmba language. Nice work, Laura!

 

 

 

 

The PhonLab Travels Down Under! August 10, 2019

The UD PhonLab was well-represented at the International Congress on Phonetic Sciences in Melbourne, Australia (August 2019).
