Upward Bound Math and Science Panel/Mixer

Our SACNAS chapter partnered with the UBMS to plan a panel/mixer-like event. The UBMS provides assistance and guidance high school students interested in obtaining a degree in the fields of math or science. This program offers hands-on projects within different areas during the summer. We invited members from the Hispanic/Latino Graduate Student Association (H/LGSA) and the Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA) to be part of our panel and share their experiences during their academic career. The goal of the mixer was to give students the opportunity to ask questions and gain an insight on important things to do during the college and graduate school applications. We talked about our hardships and motivations to work hard to get to where we are today.
