Trainees

Project GROW has cultivated mutually beneficial partnerships between Delaware’s school systems and universities.

Graduate students accepted into the training program receive tuition grants, stipends for specialized traineeships, and financial assistance with academic and professional expenses. In addition, they complete their fieldwork in high-need Delaware schools, and they commit to serve in high-need Delaware schools following their graduation.

Shaunna Alexander

Delaware State University, Social Work Student

Social work is not just a job, it’s a passion. Shaunna Ashley Alexander is a recent Summa Cum
Laude graduate from Delaware State University with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Shaunna is currently a first year MSW student interning at Kent County Intensive Learning Center. Shaunna developed a compelling desire for child welfare when she spent her undergrad as an academic mentor, a recreational activities coach, and as a summer camp counselor. Shaunna is a firm believer that every child deserves to grow up feeling safe and loved. Shaunna has honed her skills in emotional intelligence, cultural competency, and advocacy through education, training, and experience. My favorite part of being a social worker is knowing I made a difference in someone’s life whether it’s from breaking the cycle of poverty or finding a stable home for a child. I am thrilled to bring my prowess to Project GROW where I will continue my mission of helping vulnerable children.
