About the Department of Epidemiology and Training in Pharmacoepidemiology
The Department of Epidemiology at the University of Delaware offers masters (MPH) and doctoral (PhD) degrees in epidemiology. UD is home to the only accredited MPH program in epidemiology in the state of Delaware. Students can focus their training in pharmacoepidemiology through taking specialized elective coursework (i.e., EPID 634) and engaging in mentored research with a faculty mentor.
Students enrolled in doctoral study gain hands-on experience writing and submitting federal grant proposals (e.g., F31 applications to the National Institutes of Health) and in leading a doctoral program of research. Several MPH and PhD students have presented their research at national conferences, including the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE), Gerontological Society of America (GSA), and the American Public Health Association (APHA).
“The course material was very interesting. It was things we had never learned before and I liked the small class size and conversational style of class.“
