Our mission is to improve clinical decision-making and population health through the conduct of rigorous pharmacoepidemiologic and mixed-methods research into the use, safety, efficacy, and effectiveness of prescription medications, non-prescription medications, and vaccines. We have a strong tradition of conducting applied and descriptive epidemiologic research to guide public health decision-making and health policy.
Housed within the Department of Epidemiology, our faculty have a particular focus on aging, disability, chronic disease epidemiology, clinical epidemiology, and the integration of qualitative and quantitative research methods. We offer formal graduate-level coursework in pharmacoepidemiology and opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in industry and federally-funded research.
“The way the class was structured I felt okay to take risks and do things I wasn’t familiar with. I’m happy with how far I was pushed and I feel like it helped with my academic growth.“
