NSLI-Y CHINA

The University of Delaware is the proud implementer of the U.S. Department of State (DOS)’s National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) and runs its Summer Institute of Chinese Language and Culture in China, in partnership with American Councils for International Education.

Since 2007, the U.S. Department of State, American Councils for International Education, and the University of Delaware have invited talented high school students throughout the United States to participate in the remarkable program offering academic challenges and personal growth experiences in a cross-cultural, immersive setting in China. Leadership development, academic excellence, and an appreciation of the visual and performing arts, among others, have always been hallmarks of the UD NSLI-Y program. We continue the legacy by providing activities designed to empower and motivate participants to strive for personal excellence, broaden horizons, interact with other talented students and professionals, develop communication skills, and explore new ideas in an international context.

In 2019 the UD-NSLIY CHINA group is heading Xiamen and its surrounding areas, Shanghai and Beijing for a six-week program fully immersed in Chinese language and culture in late June through early August.

Live blog about the 2019 UD-NSLIY program will be updated. Stay tuned.
