Fall 2019 Speaker Series: Irene Soucy

The Nutrition and Dietetics Club is excited to have Irene Soucy, MS, RD, CSG, LDN speak at tonight’s meeting.

A Pennsylvania native, Irene moved to Delaware in 1996 where she is currently President & CEO of Dietary Directions, Inc.

Irene is contracted by the State of Delaware’s Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Services for the Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities to provide monitoring and technical oversight of the senior nutrition programs throughout Delaware. In addition, she is an instructor of nutrition at the University of Delaware and previously taught at Penn State University’s Abington Campus / Aria School of Nursing. She is employed by Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Delaware with the School Based Wellness Center at Cape Henlopen High School and the Dr. Dean Ornish Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.

Irene is an active member of the Delaware Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, currently serving as President and has held previous positions as President-Elect, Delegate to the Academy’s House of Delegates, State Policy Representative and acting Public Policy Coordinator. Irene is a 2015 recipient of the Outstanding Dietitian of the Year from the Delaware Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a 1993 recipient of the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year from the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association.

She received her BS in Nutrition from Penn State in 1986 and completed her Dietetic Internship in 1987 at York Hospital. She returned to Penn State, completing her master’s degree in 1995 with thesis: ‘Nutritional Supplementation in Elderly Adults at Nutritional Risk: The Effect on Dietary Intake’ and is currently a Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition (CSG), credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Tonight’s NTDT Club Meeting

Tonight’s meeting will be the e-board members sharing their positions and experiences. We will also have a raffle for some extra National Nutrition Month prizes!

If you are interested in running you can email the position and short speech to the club presidents. The last day to apply to the club positions will be on May 5th by midnight.

Spring 2019 Speaker Series: Breanna Banks

At tonight’s club meeting we welcome Breanna Banks from the University of Delaware’s Cooperative Extension.

Breanna is a UD graduate who works for the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension as the Healthy Living Program Coordinator for 4-H Youth Development and Family and Consumer Sciences SNAP-Ed specializing in nutrition.

Spring 2019 Speaker Series: Caitlin Gee

Tonight’s Nutrition and Dietetics Club meeting we welcome Caitlin Gee, RDN, LDN is currently a menu planner for the Brandywine School District in Wilmington, DE. Her responsibilities include following USDA regulations to plan school menus, working with students who have food allergies, providing nutrition education to high school students as well as other duties assigned. She graduated from University of Delaware in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics, Minor in Psychology and Certificate of Business Essentials. She also completed her Dietetic Internship through UD.

Fall Speaker Series: Rosemary Odong-Wodolam

We are excited to host Rosemary Odong-Wodolam, RD at the upcoming Nutrition and Dietetics Club meeting on October 8th, 2018! She is a Renal Dietitian and has worked at Fresenius Kidney Care for the last 21 years. She is also married with 3 adult children and 2 grandchildren.

In her education background she completed her primary school studies in Uganda, East Africa, then went to college in London, UK where she earned a BA in Hotel / Institutional Management and Catering at the University of South Bank. She then continued her studies in the US at Eastern Kentucky University where she earned a BS in General Dietetics, a BS in Environmental Health Science, and a MS degree in Community Nutrition.
