Overview
This 400 MHz NMR spectrometer features a Neo console (upgraded in 2022), a 5-mm BBFO probe, and a sample changer (SampleCase) to provide NMR service on a 24/7 basis. The broadband channel of the probe covers a frequency range from 109Ag to 31P and 19F.
The day-queue is reserved for rapid turn-around analysis and routine experiments such as 1D 1H, 13C, 19F, and 31P spectra. The night-queue is reserved for experiments that require more than one hour of instrument time such as 13C NMR for dilute samples and two-dimensional experiments (COSY, HMQC, HSQC, NOESY).
Instrument usage is recorded by the ICONNMR software package and further processed for billing using the laboratory management software iLab. Data acquired on the Neo 400 NMR spectrometer is automatically transferred to our NMR data server.
Training and Access
Level 1 training on instrument automation, sample loading/unloading, data processing, and magnet laboratory safety is available for all researchers at the University of Delaware and required for access to this instrument.
This instrument is primarily operated as a walk-up instrument that accepts sample submission 24/7 without reservations. The queue is based on the principle of first come first serve. Users who require this instrument for specialized longer experiments should make arrangements with Dr. Bai.
In additional to supporting synthetic chemists and material scientists, this spectrometer is also used for teaching, training, and educational purposes. The Neo 400 NMR is an NSF CRIF funded spectrometer and it is enabled for remote control and access. Academic users of nearby colleges and high schools are welcome to use this spectrometer. Please contact Dr. Bai for details.
