Welcome to The Pain Lab!
The Delaware Pain Research Group is directed by Katie Butera, PT, DPT, PhD. We conduct high-impact, translational clinical research to optimize health and functional outcomes for individuals with chronic pain and disability. Our lab aims to understand the neural mechanisms underlying pain and movement interactions across clinical populations. We are interested in using performance-based and movement-evoked measures to better evaluate pain alongside function. Additionally, our lab seeks to develop movement-based interventions that can be delivered by rehabilitation therapists when treating individuals with pain. The ultimate goal of this work is to advance effective pain rehabilitation approaches in real-world clinical settings.
