Compliance Hotline
About This Hotline
UD is committed to high ethical standards and enforcing its policies, procedures, and all applicable legal requirements.
The UD Compliance Hotline, serviced by EthicsPoint, provides an anonymous, confidential and independent resource for reporting suspected misconduct and other issues of concern in the workplace.
The Compliance Hotline is designed to receive reports regarding compliance, and ethical issues as well as other concerns related to accounting and financial controls, athletics, human resources, information technologies, research, and risk and safety matters. Examples of reportable issues include fraud, misuse of UD resources or information, violation of safety rules and environmental laws, conflicts of interest, NCAA violations, unlawful discrimination or harassment, and research grant misconduct.
Members of the UD community are encouraged to report concerns through regular lines of communication such as unit management, Human Resources, the Internal Auditing and Compliance Office or other campus entities as appropriate. The EthicsPoint system simply provides an additional means of reporting and offers individuals the opportunity to report issues anonymously.
Reports submitted via EthicsPoint will be handled promptly and discreetly. Facts will be made available only to those who need to know in order to address the issues reported. EthicsPoint and UD are committed to safeguarding the confidentiality of individuals who submit reports.
No retaliatory action will be taken against anyone for reporting or inquiring in good faith about potential breaches of UD policies and procedures or for seeking guidance on how to handle suspected misconduct.
How to File a Report
EthicsPoint is designed to maintain your confidentiality and anonymity. Use any one of these three channels of communication:
1. University Web
Go to UD’s Ethics Point portal and click on the appropriate Issue Category that best describes the incident.
2. Internet
From any computer having Internet access, go to www.ethicspoint.com, click on “File a New Report” and type in the words “University of Delaware.”
3. Toll-Free Phone
Call the EthicsPoint toll-free hotline at:
1-888-366-6033. An intake specialist will assist in making your report.
Complete a Report
Following the on-screen or intake specialist’s instructions, provide information about the incident including details such as:
- Who: persons engaged in the incident, including titles;
- What: what specifically occurred;
- Where: the location of the incident; and
- When: the time and duration of the incident.
Create a Password
Create a password. The EthicsPoint system will guide you through this process as well as generate an identification code called a “Report Key.” Write them both down and keep them in a safe place. You will need them to follow-up later, or to review or amend your report.
Follow-Up
Ten business days after you complete your report, please return to the EthicsPoint system to see if there are any follow-up questions or requests. Reconnect to the EthicsPoint system, click on “Report Follow Up” and provide your report key and password. You can elect to review report details, respond to questions, or add information.
If you have agreed to participate in an EthicsChat, at the specified time, click “Join a Chat.” Type your comments into the field at the bottom of the window and click “Submit.” An EthicsChat is a real-time communication between you and a UD representative and is used to clarify details and answer questions. Like the rest of the EthicsPoint system, it is confidential and anonymous.
