The University of Delaware Industrial Assessment Center provides free energy, productivity, and waste assessments to small and medium-sized industrial facilities through funding provided by the US Department of Energy.
Our Mission
Promote student growth with on-site, hands-on experience in successful energy auditing and engineering practices, while helping small- to mid-sized manufacturers in the surrounding community save energy, time and money.

Meet Our Team
Keith Goossen
Director
Dr. Goossen, Director of the Industrial Assessment Center at the University of Delaware, holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering. He is an expert in electrical devices and systems, and has taught and published in his area of expertise. He has also performed over 70 assessments over the span of his career.
Priscila Barbosa
Center Lead Student
Priscila Barbosa, Lead Student for the IAC Delaware is pursuing her Ph.D. at The University of Delaware, developing research focused on smart windows technology using various fabrications processes, such as inject molding and 3D printing. The project goal was to develop a prototype able to shift its physical properties by using mostly a specific geometric shape called corner cube.
Ralph Nigro
Assistant Director
Ralph Nigro, PE, is a mechanical engineer with over 30 years of experience in the energy industry. His background includes a broad range of technology and management experience including renewable energy, distributed generation, conventional electric generation, energy efficiency, and their associated policy and regulatory issues. Ralph is a Senior VP with Applied Energy Group, Inc., where he works with a variety of clients from the industrial, utility, and government sectors to provide consulting and management services.
