PHC hosted self-care and mental health workshops as part of Peace Week Delaware 2018.  From September 15–23, 2018, peace-loving folks across our state celebrated Peace Week Delaware—a statewide series of events and actions raising awareness and hope for peace in our communities, nation, and world.

Promoting Inner Peace and Well-Being

PHC and the College of Health Sciences welcomed Bruce Cryer to the UD STAR campus, as he provided us with a 2-hour session full of inspiration and strategies to achieve inner peace with the mind, body and spirit. This included guided meditation, movement, ideas to use photography and your smartphone or tablet for mindfulness exercises, exploration of creative writing, and other tools to tap into our creativity to bring forth peace and contentment.

Ending the Silence:  A Discussion on Mental Illness

PHC partnered with NAMI to provide their “Ending the Silence” program, which instills a message of hope and recovery, encouraging attendees to reduce stigma and end the silence surrounding mental illness. Topics of discussion included: myths and facts, impact of stigma, signs and symptoms of mental illness, signs of suicide and how to help, and benefits of treatment and recovery.
