Submitted by Michael Kaiteris on the 2016 summer session program in Granada, Spain sponsored by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures…
As the second week came, my nervousness regarding adjusting and everything else started to diminish. I began to feel more comfortable with the environment and the routine of the program. Over the weekend, my group and I went to Barcelona and it was fantastic. We visited La Sagrada Familia which had shockingly beautiful architecture. The stain glass windows in La Sagrada Familia were unlike anything I have ever seen before.
Unfortunately, it rained two days out of the three that we stayed in Barcelona, but it was still a great and unforgettable experience. A couple of my friends and I also visited Camp Nou, where many famous soccer games have been played. Barcelona overall was a good experience, but the large amount of people/tourists and people asking you to buy their items off the street did take a little bit away from the experience.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, we also went on an excursion to the Albayzín and Sacromonte in Granada. We took a bus to somewhere high on the mountain and then hiked up to the highest point possible. The view was marvelous.
I feel like the time is going by so fast and I find it hard to believe that my second week here is over. I always enjoy the views that we have the privilege to experience and I am looking forward to the next weeks that we have in Spain!
