Dancing and Hiking in Spain

Submitted by Ana Lopez Magana on the 2014 spring semester study abroad program in Granada, Spain…

This past week we had great weather. It was sunny with temperatures in the mid and upper 60s. Awesome, right? I was getting tired of all the rain. Classes are going great (happy face) and mid terms are approaching (sad face). It’s so hard to study when all you want to do is go out and enjoy the nice weather.

On Wednesday, I attended a Tango conference at our school (Centro de Lenguas Modernas) by Horacio Révora. Mr. Révora is the director of a famous International Tango Festival that takes place in Granada during the months of February and March. During the conference, Mr. Révora talked about the origin of the dance and went in depth about its evolution. I really enjoyed learning about the tango. I also enjoyed the performances.

On Saturday, I went hiking with a couple of my classmates. I had so much fun. We left around 12 p.m. and got back around 7 p.m. It was just awesome to be outdoors. We took some snacks and just sat on top of a hill, enjoying the great weather. For a moment, it felt like I was in a TV show. We were just going up and down hills, making our own trails on the way. I didn’t get sunburned (awesome), but the next day I felt like something had ran over me. I can definitely say that hiking is a great way to work out.
