Normandy and Brittany

Submitted by Liana Flikier on the 2013 fall semester program in Paris, France…

I just had such an exciting and tiring  five days! Last night, we got back from a three night trip to the north of France to Normandie and Bretagne (Normandy and Brittany) where I was lucky enough to see many things I would not have had to opportunity to experience if not for this program. We went to the Museum of Peace in Caen, the World War II museum and beach as well as the American cemetery in Normandie and we stayed at a beautiful old chateau. Next, we stayed at another beautiful hotel right on the beach in Bretagne. I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing view and perfect weather. The next day, we visited Mont St. Michel where we had a guided walking tour then we did the famous  4-mile walk across the bay at low tide. By the end, I was sweaty, tired and muddy, but it was an amazing experience. On our final day, we had a guided tour of the fortified city of St. Malo, which was again interesting (and had some great shopping). I had so much fun and got to experience so much that I almost didn’t want to go home; but how can you not want to go home to Paris?
