Homesick for London
Every weekend in February, my roommates and I explored a different country. France, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Austria were all incredibly beautiful places; I am so grateful I experienced them. Each new city had its own unique charm. The Parisian croissants, canals of Amsterdam, and castles of Vienna were stunning. However, every Sunday, when we returned to
our London apartment, we were relieved and excited to be back. At this point, I am almost halfway through my semester in London, and there is still so much I want to explore. I desperately want to spend a weekend exploring the ins and outs of the city I call home for now, but I can’t help feeling guilty for not taking advantage of my weekends for travel. Early morning flights and trains are starting to wear on my mental and physical health; I crave a lazy Friday morning that doesn’t include a 4 am wake-up call. Hopefully, I can prioritize exploring London in March where I have a better idea of how to budget my weekend time. (Submitted on February 28, 2024)
