At the conclusion of my fifth week, I have come to realize the grandeur of practically every building scattered across the expansive city. I have also come to realize just how extensive the city truly is, and there are many more secrets, and locations to discover.
Exiting any Metro station towards the center of the city is when the beauty, and unknowingness of what will await when you reach ground level, hits you. For instance, this weekend, I decided to spontaneously take a trip a little deeper south into the city, to get away from the hustle and bustle that normally occurs on the weekends. Upon walking up the countless flights of stairs, I was immediately greeted with a view of the Palacio de Cibeles, with the sun casting a beautiful ray of golden light upon the clocktower. Now, I had no clue this building existed, or what its function was, which was a blessing, as I was able to learn more about the beautiful city I was residing in. Even further, it reinforced the idea that you never know what breathtaking sight could be simply right above your own head. (Submitted on February 18, 2024)
