The Final Trek of Greece

A view of the sky shortly after sunset, riding back to Athens from Aegina

After an extensive three week stay, I can finally say that I will soon be going back home. My experience here has been amazing and absolutely unforgettable. I’ve gone to places that I never would have been able to before and tried so many new things. Out of the entire trip though, I think this last week was my favorite. We started it off heading straight out of Athens to Nafplio, which some consider to be the first capital of modern Greece. It was a lovely little town with tons of Italian inspired architecture and the Palamidi fortress, which was an exhausting 900 step hike up to the top. We stayed there for three nights, each day with something new to do, and on our last full day some people from my group went swimming in the Mediterranean. I joined them eventually, making it my second time swimming in January. I honestly do not regret it, even though it was cold at first and I didn’t have a towel to dry off. The picture of me by the sunset was taken just after that. I had so much fun doing that with everyone, as well as being with everyone for the rest of the trip.

I can’t believe that we’re already at the end of this trip. I am so grateful that I could be here, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to come back. (Submitted on January 28, 2024)
