Spain: Valencia

Submitted by Cameron Kravitz on the 2022 spring semester program in Madrid, Spain…

This weekend, we traveled to Valencia in Spain, which was absolutely beautiful! On our first day, we walked around Plaza del Ayuntamiento, visited the Valencia Cathedral, and climbed the Miguelete Tower. From the top of the Miguelete Tower, the view of the city was amazing and definitely worth the 207 steps that it took to get up there. Also, since Valencia is known for being the origin of paella, I ordered arroz del senyoret for dinner. This dish is paella with fish and peeled seafood, and it was my first time ordering paella since we have been in Spain! We also visited the Cuidad de las Artes y las Ciencias, which is a beautiful complex in Valencia that has multiple attractions, including the Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe. This science museum was so interactive and it was really interesting to be able to relate material from my coursework here to what the exhibits were showing. The few days that we were able to spend in Valencia were amazing, and I loved having the opportunity to try the traditional foods from the region as well as being able to see the landmarks in the city!
