It’s amazing just how many opportunities can open up during and after a study abroad experience. So far, I’ve gotten to make the most of my host culture in a few different ways. For example, Paris Fashion Week for menswear and couture has been one of the focal points for the past two weeks. Luckily, some of my roommates were also interested in exploring Paris fashion. As a result, we found out where a few of the shows were, got dressed up, and scoped out the venues to people watch. Although our fingers and toes froze in the process, it was a lot of fun!
I’ll also be starting my internship with the Financial Times this upcoming week. It’ll take place over 8 weeks, and I’ll be aiding the advertising and sales teams with their projects. I’m thrilled to start a new chapter of personal and professional growth thanks to this internship opportunity. I’m sure that taking my academics and career globally will challenge and supply me with a unique skillset compared to my counterparts post-graduation. Not only that, but I’ll be developing a network that I hope to keep strengthening in the future.
There’s an abundance of knowledge to gain from a new culture during a study abroad session. I look forward to discovering more ways in which I can become immersed in my host culture. I also hope that other study abroad students will discover their host culture’s opportunities as well.
