Submitted by Sophia Kayatta on the 2022 winter session program in Greece sponsored by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures…
This week was another fantastic time in Greece on my study abroad program! As stated last week, I experienced so much in such a short time and am absolutely grateful for the adventures. For example, on January 21st, I had the best meal I have ever had in Greece for lunch. The restaurant offered fresh ingredients, made meals from farm-to-table, had an amazing owner whom my friends and I got to know well, and spectacular service. After being stuffed, my friends and I walked around Athens for a little bit to experience the town and culture during the afternoon. The city was very lively and everyone was happy to be outside and enjoy the warm (ish) weather! Some of my highlights of the week are as follows. First, my friend group really is forming and having a great time with each other while away from home! And, in addition to that, we branched out to Dr. Satran’s class and had more conversations with them. Both classes get along very well – which is sometimes hard to find! Finally, I really loved trying other different restaurants, beaches, and hiking destinations. The views have been amazing, and they have not felt like I was standing there just looking at it with my own eyes. As mentioned before, Dr. Tyson is incredible and the best person to have on this program. He is so supportive of all my needs and the amount of knowledge that he has is incredibly high and he continues to surprise me!
