Phew, spring break couldn’t come quickly enough! The first weekend I went to Orvieto with a few friends. Orvieto is on top of a mountain, and the view was amazing! We saw the Duomo, had some delicious gelato, and went on a tour of Etruscan underground caves, which are underneath the entire town. Most of the caves are owned by families and are used as wine cellars, but a few are civic property and are open for tours. The caves were really cool, and so much taller and more spacious than I was expecting. The next day my boyfriend came to visit and stayed for the rest of the week. We went to Perugia and Bologna, and then stayed in Rome for a few days so I could show him around. Perugia is also on top of a mountain, so we saw a beautiful view of the Emilia-Romagna region. We went to an art museum, and tried to go to the Perugina chocolate factory, but it was closed. Unfortunately, when we went to Bologna the Ducati motorcycle factory was also closed, but my boyfriend was happy to just see it from the outside, and spend time in the city where Ducati’s most famous minds lived and worked. We had a great time in Rome being really touristy so he could see all the sights, and it was fun to show him some of my favorite places in the city.
