I have just begun my study abroad program to Thailand and Myanmar! This past week we were in Chiang Mai, Thailand and it has been an amazing, cultural experience. It’s so interesting to compare their culture to America and start to understand their way of life. Everything from the restaurant service to the side of the street we walk on is different. The language barrier is present , but luckily a lot of locals know English pretty well. I’m so thankful for choosing to study abroad and Chiang Mai will always be in my heart.
We hiked to the Mae Sa Waterfalls, visited an elephant rescue park, visited temples and so much more. Being able to come to class and hear about everyone’s experiences and insights about the culture brings new perspectives. The classes challenge us to open our minds to observe and understand this new way of living. Tomorrow, we head to Bangkok which will be different from the laid-back atmosphere that we’ve grown accustomed to.
