Street Food

Submitted by Martina Esparza the 2024 Spring program in Prague, Czech Republic…

This week, I continued to explore Prague and its great sites, but what really intrigued me were the street vendors. Halfway through crossing the Charles Bridge, my roommate and I noticed some stairs descending into a small, storybook-like town. Through the midst of tall, colorful houses, there was a line of various street vendors where you could find food ranging from potatoes and cheese to roasted squash and veggies, along with hot wine and all varieties of sausage. As a big fan of sausages, I knew that I would need to try them abroad. I got the spicy sausage, which was handed to me with a loaf of bread I would need to cut myself. After assembling the hotdog and adding cabbage on top, as suggested by a local, I gave it a try. It is safe to say that the makeshift hotdogs here truly outdo the hot dogs from back home.
