Submitted by Alexandra Evangelist the 2024 Spring program in Rome, Italy…
This is my 6th week in Rome. I have adapted to the time people eat, the way people drive, and the different culture. Experiencing all these culture shocks makes you realize every place is different. Even simple things, like around 3pm everything closes so you can not get anything to eat at that time. This is a weekend I chose to not go on a big trip and save some money. The weather was beautiful so this weekend I went to San Marinella, a beach town, for the day. It was a 4 euro, one hour train ride. It was very easy and fun! The temperature was cool so I wore a crew neck and long skirt. We watched the sunset at Molo 21 and wanted to grab dinner. It was the off season which we did not realize. Romans do not eat dinner there during the off season, so all restaurants were closed after 3pm. We found a pizza place after 30 minutes and got suppli and pizza which is a roman delicacy and then trained back home. Still hungry, we got all you can eat sushi which is not too bad for being in Italy. (Submitted on February 19, 2024)
