Day Trip to Florence

Submitted by Sarah Rhodunda on the 2024 Winter LLCU program in Siena, Italy…

This week, we took a day trip to Florence. Going on day trips to other cities is a pleasant experience to compare and contrast your home base city. Florence’s terrain was way less hilly than Siena and had more high-end shops. We got to see the David statue, which was very cool. It’s interesting to see sculptures you’ve seen in textbooks for years, but seeing them in person is truly unique. We also got to tour a church with many offerings to famous Italians who died and were buried there. It is fantastic to see how burials worked in that period. I also toured the Ufitiz museum, which had many famous sculptures and paintings. (Submitted on January 17, 2024)
