Roma: Amor

Ceilings at the Vatican

Our first week begins with a pit stop in Rome. Between the Vatican and the Colosseum there is so much beauty to take in. The beautiful muraled ceilings at the Vatican stole the show to the point where now as soon as I walk into an exhibit my first gaze is up. The attention to detail and gold trimmings are something I just can’t stop looking at. While the Colosseum is perhaps one of the most famous structures in the world, I never knew much about it until visiting it. The Colosseum was not always called the colosseum. Initially it was called the Flavian Amphitheatre in honor of the Flavian emperors named Titus and Domitian because it was constructed under their rule. More commonly known the Colosseum was used for entertainment ranging from gladiator fights to hunting simulations. As I walk around the city I look at the beautiful architecture, the picturesque cobblestone paths, the people, and feel overwhelming Amor and that is Roma.
