My first week in Athens, Greece was really exciting and interesting. Coming during the off-season to a place known as a summer tourist destination afforded me opportunities to immerse myself further in the culture. I would not have known about the traditional winter foods or how much love they have for Christmas that they keep all of their holiday decorations up well past December 25 th . My class for this winter semester is mainly shadowing hospital doctors in a variety of specialties, my first being neurosurgery. It has only been two days so far at the hospital and I have already seen three different types of procedures: hematoma evacuation, biopsy, and spinal disc replacement. All of the doctors and nurses are extremely helpful and friendly which made the hospital environment so welcoming and enjoyable. (Submitted on January 10, 2024)
