First Week Adventures!

Seeing the Louvre up close!

My first week in Paris has been absolutely fantastic. We arrived on January 5th and took an Uber from the airport, which safe to say was quite an experience. This was our first time seeing the city and where we were staying. With narrow roads and tons of vehicles, the driving that goes on lacks a sense of safety. Our first night we went to a very small restaurant (with 30+ people). I tried duck for the first time along with smoked salmon, definitely something that is out of my comfort zone! As the week went on we began to see more sights, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Seine, Notre Dame, and more! Walking around the city felt so surreal, so many interesting sights along with people in the streets. The fashion in the city is undertone, lots of monochromatic colors with little to no variation. There’s always someone hustling to get by you. The metro is finally starting to feel not as intimidating, and it’s quite fun to hop on and off! The group of people I am with have been amazing, and it’s been lovely getting to know everyone on a more personal level. It’s so interesting to experience a new culture with the people that I know on the trip but also the people I do not, simply because seeing everyone’s raw reactions to our surroundings gives me a sense of excitement. We have so much more of Paris to explore and I cannot wait to see what else is in store! (Submitted on January 11, 2024)
