ER fun in Athens!

The first week in Greece was super exciting! During my first week interning in the hospital of Evangelismos (Ευαγγελισμός) I got to see the beauties of the Emergency Room. It was quite different from America, but in some aspects also the same. There is a high prevalence of bike accidents in Athens therefore I saw knees broken, lungs shattered, splenectomies, many contusions along the brain, hematomas, hernias and much more! I am really glad I got to partake in seeing how the ER works in Greece as it is a speciality I am planning on pursuing in the future. The doctors, surgeons and nurses were also extremely helpful and friendly, and they taught me a lot about different surgeries and procedures throughout the ER! (Submitted on January 12, 2024)
