On one of my last few days on the island I was able to attend a traditional Hawaiian Luau. I really enjoyed learning more about Hawaiian culture and getting to experience the celebration of unity and Ohana. I was able to learn how the Luau meal was prepared and the process behind cooking the pig which is the centerpiece of the traditional meal. The food was so delicious and I enjoyed getting to try a little bit of everything during the buffet style dinner. I was also able to witness the different cultures and dance styles from Tahiti, Polynesia, and Samoa.
While I am sad to leave Hawaii, I will never forget this incredible experience and all that I was able to learn during my time here. I am confident that I am leaving Hawaii and returning back to the mainland with a great deal of knowledge about Hawaiian culture, the importance of the environment, and its relationship to healthcare.
