Greece: Nafplio

Submitted by Dara McNally on the 2022 spring semester program in Athens, Greece…

This week was Nafplio! It was as a group excursion. We toured a fortress overlooking Nafplio and had lunch in the city before being let out to explore. There was a rock beach nearby so a group of us hopped in for a little while after exploring a nearby castle. It was very interesting to see a turquoise ocean that was so clear! You could see the bottom from in the water as well as all the way up in the fortress! There were also cacti everywhere! The flora of Greece is so different from back home. It’s super neat to see. Our tour guide gave us a lot of the history of the places we passed and visited. She seemed very knowledgeable! It was fascinating to see the history just sitting in the town. There’s nothing like that that I’ve seen in the United States.
