Spain: Start of the Spring Semester

Submitted by Arielle Thompson on the 2020 spring semester study abroad program in Granada, Spain…

This week was the official start of the 2020 spring semester. It was a week full of figuring out new classes, professors, and meeting some new people. After switching a few of my classes, I was finally at the point where I felt settled in and ready to tackle the spring semester. I’m getting used to my new schedule and finding ways to organize my time. This week was very relaxed. I took some time to walk around the streets of Granada. During one of my long walks, I found a potential hair salon for the future. I also got to satisfy my craving for churros con chocolate once more at a churrería. Towards the end of the week, I focused on making sure all of my homework assignments were completed and caught up on some much needed rest. I spent time with my host mother watching movies and prepared for the week ahead. I actually felt quite accomplished finishing my first movie in Spanish. Some parts were harder to understand than others, but I am making progress with my skills in Spanish. I’m looking forward to next week. I am trying to plan trips for the future with some friends.
