France: Museum Week

Submitted by Emily Richardson on the 2020 winter session program in Paris, France and Geneva, Switzerland sponsored by the School of Nursing…

My third week of my study abroad program was called museum week. We were provided with a six-day museum pass which allowed us into most of the museums in Paris. This was an incredible deal because most of the museums were about 12-15 euros to get into and we went to at least 2-3 museums everyday during this week. My favorite museum was the Louvre. The Louvre was amazing because it has so much art inside. If you were to spend 60 seconds looking at each art piece, for eight hours a day, it would take 75 days to look at every piece of art. Another cool thing about the Louvre was Napoleon’s apartment inside. In one of the wings of the museum, there is a whole apartment in which Napoleon lived. This furniture was beautiful and very artfully made. It was extremely lavish, but it was Napoleon. There is a beautiful courtyard in the middle of the Louvre in which there are many stone statues. Beyond that, there is also the famous Mona Lisa in the Louvre. It is crazy to get up close to the painting. You would have to wait in line in order to get close enough to get a picture in front of or a close up picture of it. I remember thinking about how much my feet hurt that day because I ended up walking 10,000 steps just inside the Louvre. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who decides to visit Paris. This visit was my second time visiting the Louvre and I saw so many new pieces of art that I did not see the first time!
