Portugal: Shadowing Doctors

Bon dia from Lisbon!

The past couple of weeks have been FLYING by! It’s hard to believe we are leaving soon. We have spent most of our time shadowing doctors by day and roaming around as tourists at night.

So far, I have learned to suture, touched a human aorta after removal, and watched brain surgery! Here is a picture of my first attempt at suturing and a picture of me in scrubs!

One day after the hospital, we went to Cascais. This was a beautiful beach town, and definitely something I would like to come back to see in the summer. My favorite spot was Boca do Inferno (or Hell’s Mouth). The colors of the ocean against the cliff were absolutely breathtaking.

Finally, a little fun fact. They actually play a lot of American music here! It makes the country feel more and more like home each day.

Can’t wait to see what our final week has in store for us!
