New to Italy

Submitted by Katelynn Lavin on the 2020 spring semester study abroad program in Rome, Italy…

Although it has been an extremely exhausting week in Rome due to many orientation activities, my time spent here so far has been amazing. My first day in Rome was a bit hard emotionally because I was far away from home and hadn’t gotten much sleep, but ever since making new friends it has been fun. Not to mention, I imagined making friends would be hard since I am a shy person, but once I realized everyone is in the same boat as I am, it became easier. Furthermore, the Italian culture is quite different than the American one and therefore, is something I need to become accustomed to. All in all, it has been a great experience and I am eager to learn more about the culture and the city itself.
