Our study abroad group spent two weeks in Asakusa and will now be heading to Kyoto for the rest of our stay here in Japan. My favorite thing we did in our time in Tokyo was when we saw the Team Lab art exhibit where they create rooms of borderless and interactive art. We enter dark rooms that have moving gardens, birds, and butterflies projected onto the walls. The more you explore, the more you’ll find and it was almost impossible to get to everything. My favorite room was a maze filled with mirrors and ceilings completely covered by dangling LED strands and when they lit up it was like you were completely surrounded by crystals and the music or sound of rainfall only made it more immersive. The next level was an interactive forest where you can draw your own animals and see them come to life on the floor. There were numerous rooms that were completely mesmerizing: the lantern room, the waterfall, and “the nest” just to name a few. It took us a few hours to go through the rooms, but I wanted to return as soon as possible. After that, we were only one train away from Akihabara which is most known for its anime stores.
