Hawaii: The Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum

Submitted by Danielle Conti on the 2020 winter session study abroad program in Hawaii sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development…

This week we visited The Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum in Honolulu as a group to gain insight on the culture and history of Hawaii and the people that live here. Our tour guide started the tour by saying this museum is the Smithsonian of the Pacific, due to its vast collection of objects, and photograms about Hawaii and the other Pacific Island cultures. It was a very interesting experience to learn about the culture and background of the amazing island during our first few days here, because it makes me more interested in and appreciative of this beautiful island I get to call home for the next month.
