In the Commonwealth of Australia, kangaroos are more than abundant. Some estimates have stated that there are over 40 million of these animals across the country, which is more than there are people. Never in my life have I considered the idea of someone preparing this sacred animal for a meal, so one could imagine how this came to me as quite a shock. I do not follow any diets that would restrict me from eating meat; however, American culture does not include this type of meat at common restaurants. In Australia, it is very common for restaurants and grills to serve this. In fact, many people do not think twice about this type of meat being served at restaurants. I ordered it to further immerse myself in the Australian culture and surprisingly I did not feel as guilty as I thought I would after trying it. The fact that it is acceptable in their culture appeased my concerns, but this practice originally came to me as quite a surprise.
